The PCV kit mounts near the brake master cylinder in the back of the engine bay and interfaces with the hose that goes from the PCV valve on the engine to the intake manifold (vacuum).
The PCV catch can kit runs inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. It mounts in the LH side engine compartment.
When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV "check" valve closes and, thus, this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hoses will experience "metered" vacuum when the engine is idling, steady state cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapor, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after a high load run. This catch can will intercept the oil and other blow-by liquids and prevent them from entering the intake manifold. The catch can must be emptied periodically.
NOTES
- The PCV kit is NOT directly compatible with 08-11 GT-Rs which did not have an OEM strut bar
- The PCV kit is compatible and recommended to be used with the dual CCV catch can kit. See 20-0566 -FL below
- No inline check valve is required since Radium catch cans are pressure sealed. This means a direct intake manifold connection is permitted
- For RHD vehicles, some modifications may be required for catch can mounting.
