The Battery Tender® 12V / 6V Battery Tester is the fastest way to assess battery health before a storage season, after a long discharge, or when a battery is not holding charge as expected. Designed for both 12V and 6V lead-acid batteries, it provides an immediate read of battery voltage and charge state — no multimeter knowledge required, no complex settings, no waiting.
Who It's For
Any vehicle owner who maintains a battery-dependent fleet — multiple motorcycles, ATVs, boats, classic cars, or seasonal equipment — benefits from a dedicated battery tester. Knowing whether a battery is fully charged, partially discharged, or permanently sulfated before connecting a charger saves time and identifies batteries that need replacement rather than maintenance. The Battery Tender® 12V / 6V Battery Tester answers the most important battery question — is this battery worth charging or does it need to be replaced?
6V and 12V Compatibility
The same tester works with all 6V lead-acid batteries found in vintage vehicles and pre-1960s equipment, and all standard 12V lead-acid batteries used in modern automotive and powersports applications — flooded, AGM, gel cell, and sealed maintenance-free. One tool covers the entire fleet regardless of battery voltage.
Easy to Read, Easy to Use
Connect the test leads to the battery terminals — red to positive, black to negative — and read the result. The display provides an immediate voltage reading and charge state indication, making battery assessment accessible without automotive electrical training. No calibration, no warm-up, no complex menu navigation.
When to Test
- Before connecting a battery maintainer to a stored vehicle — confirm the battery is in recoverable condition
- After retrieving a vehicle from extended storage — verify the Battery Tender® maintained the battery correctly
- When a battery shows signs of reduced performance — identify whether charging or replacement is the correct solution
- As part of seasonal vehicle preparation — assess the health of every battery in the fleet before the season begins
Compatible Battery Types
- 6V lead-acid: flooded, AGM, gel cell
- 12V lead-acid: flooded, AGM, gel cell, sealed maintenance-free
- All passenger car, truck, motorcycle, ATV, marine, and powersports batteries at 6V or 12V
